although i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.
Phizzy,
you might be surprised that alot of people shun their families who are NOT JW's. I have inadvertently been shunning members of my family for several years now. Where once we would get together and there would always be DEEP spiritual discussions, now there is simply family banter. I cannot move myself to engage in any more spiritual discussions where the ultimate end is ONLY what the organization states is the truth. Because of my recognizable shift away from these type of discussions, there is a palpable tension, so I have decided that to avoid tension in my life and the lives of others, I am better off not associating with them.

ok so you had a bad experience and you stopped going to church which ever one that is.
but did you stop believing or are you that peeved you blame god etc.
i would encourage you to humble yourself before your messiah and seek him, he will let himself be found by you and come dwells within you.
Psychotic ramblings of an overactive mind. Give it a rest! For one, if you know absolutely anything about the Bible, God invites you TO THE CHRIST. It is an invitation, not a search. If you are searching Mr Maccauk11, you are not speaking of biblical Christianity. It is NOT a quest, it is a wedding to which you are invited. Maybe you should check your mailbox, maybe it got lost amongst the weekly advertisements.
Good luck on that quest....I suggest you read Dante's Inferno...a lot of cool ramblings about a quest in that book as well.

i got bored at the meeting and read the bible reading and could not believe some of the false prophetic garbage being commented....anyways heres what i fiund interesting ;-).
7 after this i saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding tight the four winds of the earth, so that no wind could blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree.
2 and i saw another angel ascending from the sunrise, having a seal of the living god; and he called with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying: do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the slaves of our god in their foreheads.
Great points! I use to sit and just read the book of Revelation...fascinating. Over the years, though, I have come to learn that it is simply a book of alegory and symbolism referent to Roman rulership and their intolerance of Christianity. NOT even written by the apostle John, but rather some othe John over a century later. The arguments against even putting it in as part of the biblical canon are many. It was used by the early Church to compel worship and alms. Sorry....but that's just part of the history. So, now when I read it....I don't try to make any sense of it or apply it to modern day.

the changes are in paragraph 7 and 8 in the first chapter of draw close to jehovah book, and i fail to see any doctrine change, only the gb trying to cover up possible mistakes they've made and potential embarrassment of worldly sources knowing what jehovah's name means while they were wrong.
let's examine this new light they quote with this letter.
let's see a word for word comparison on what many will be talking about in meetings about the wonderful new light and evidence that they are the faithful slave...... .
EoM,
It is my opinion that it is the first step in the evolution of a religious organization the insertion of the term "understood" and "understand." These terms allow change and morphing. We believe denotes a basis for that belief, "faith is the assured..." but, to "understand" is quickly and painlessly altered.

re: adjustments to draw close to jehovah.
dear brothers:.
some changes involving our understanding of the meaning of gods name and what it re p- resents have been made to the first chapter of draw close to jehovah.
@ Lost Generation....AWESOME and Oh So True.
To the topic, get ready for a lot of online adjustments. I can just imagine the scorn and disdain when a "not-up-to-date witness" comments using the OLD information. Godless heathen!!! My God have mercy on your soul!

i was a born in.
both parents are uber dubs and mother has been depressed lately.
so i m super nervous.
Good luck...
For what it is worth, because I know others are trying to determine just how they will cut the ties...your way will probably work the best.
For myself, however, I have decided that when I do decide to sever the JW connection, it will be face to face. It will be at that time that I decide who wishes to be part of my life and who will go down with the sinking ship. After that, any individual who chooses to rekindle a relationship with me will have to make the effort. Life is now too short to spend it on dysfunctional people.

Yep, elder for almost 20 years.
Helped many. When needed, received no help in return. THAT was a defining moment for me.

well tonight my family and i went out to dinner.
we ate, had a good time...then the time came for the check.. the waitress announced some old couple would pay our tab.
total strangers picked up our bill.
Thank you for the post,
I have seen more generosity from "worldly" people than I have ever, repeat...EVER seen from Jehovah's Witnesses. There is a "teach a man how to fish" mentality that befuddles me. Sometimes a person can't wait to catch a fish because they are starving!
Good quote from the movie Angels and Demons, " My church feeds the hungry. My church comforts the sick and the dying. What does your church do?"
"Generosity must emanate from the soul, where one is souless, none can exist." -SOP
i had a lovely mirrored windchime in my house.
my study conductor told me it attracted deemunz and i threw it in the trash.
i've since bought another.. what's the reasoning behind that idiocy??
I am glad you replaced it. In any event, enjoy the wind, live in the now and remember that we are all an amalgam of our experiences. Someone will benefit greatly from what you have learned and you will be blessed for passing along that knowledge.
